I  just came back from Santiniketan, a village in West Bengal, made famous by Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore. This snap I took at ‘Khoai’, place around Santiniketan, a name coined by the Poet himself for its peculiar undulating laterite land formation. (More pics to come).

Capturing that fleeting moment is a joy of taking picture. I shot this picture today in Mahestalla, a suburb of Kolkata. (Click on the image to see it large)

A street dog’s attempt to cross the busy road.

Prosthesis of a man in Malik ghat, on the bank of holy river Ganges, Kolkata. The man came all the way from Jharkhand (a newly constituted estate of India) to scatter ‘Asthi’ (remains of the deceased) of his wife in the holy river. It is believed in Hinduism that ‘Moksha’ will be achieved and the person’s soul will be blessed and will rest in peace for eternity, when the ashes are mixed in the waters of holy river.

A flower vendor approaches the hooghly river to wash the flowers in the Malik Ghat flower market. The market is one of the oldest flower market in Kolkata where the city’s floral retailers buy fresh flowers. It is located close to the Howrah bridge on the bank of Hooghly river.
